We're honored to share that Bamboo Grand Rapids has received a 2026 AIA Michigan Interior Award, recognizing the thoughtful design and transformation of our downtown Grand Rapids coworking and event space.

Designed by Synecdoche and brought to life alongside Grand Rapids-based Construction Simplified, the award celebrates more than beautiful architecture. It recognizes a space intentionally created to support entrepreneurs, innovators, remote workers, artists, and organizations who gather here every day and the hard work that went into a thoughtful and intentional repurposing of the former UICA art gallery space located at 2 Fulton in Grand Rapids.

A Space Designed for Connection

At Bamboo, we believe great spaces can support local communities.

When we began reimagining our home at 2 Fulton Street West, our goal wasn't simply to create another office building. We wanted to create a destination where people could work, connect, host events, and build businesses in the heart of downtown Grand Rapids. We wanted to honor the existing space and it's deep roots in design with the Grand Rapids creative community, while providing new use cases for the future of work.

The result is a space that blends historic character with contemporary design, creating an environment that feels both inspiring and approachable.

The AIA Michigan jury noted the project's "restrained use of color" and praised the powerful juxtaposition of old and new elements throughout the space. Warm textures, dramatic lighting, and carefully curated gathering areas create memorable experiences for members and guests alike.
